Better Farming, Better Food.
At Cormorant Charcuterie, we believe that exceptional charcuterie begins with exceptional farming. That's why we partner with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability, animal welfare, and regenerative agriculture.
Our Primary Supplier: The Apricot Centre CIC
Our principal supplier is the Apricot Centre at Huxhams Cross Farm, a pioneering biodynamic, organic, and regenerative farm located on the edge of the Dartington Hall estate in South Devon. Established in 2015, the farm has transformed previously conventionally-farmed land into a vibrant ecosystem that emphasises:
Carbon Sequestration: Implementing practices that capture carbon, all whilst minimising fossil fuel usage, too.
Restoring Soil Heath: Using no ‘cides, practising minimal soil disturbance, and using deep-rooted, living manures.
Climate Resilience: Managing complex and holistic systems resilient to climate variability.
Biodiversity Support: Enhancing habitats to promote diverse wildlife.
Local, Healthy Food Production: Supplying nutritious food to the local community.
Regenerative Practices and Animal Welfare
At Huxhams Cross Farm, the focus is on regenerative agriculture. Their livestock, including the pigs we use, are integrated into the farming system to naturally manage land and to enhance soil fertility. These animals are raised with the utmost care and fed with food grown on the farm, reflecting the farm's dedication to ethical practices.
Shared Values and Vision
Our collaboration with Huxhams Cross Farm is rooted in shared values of transparency, sustainability, and excellence. By working closely with farmers who prioritise the health of the land, and the welfare of their animals, we ensure that every product we offer is a testament to quality and responsible stewardship.
By choosing Cormorant Charcuterie, you're not only savouring artisanal products but also supporting farming practices that nurture the environment and contribute to a sustainable future.
